Warwick is one of the strongest duelist champions in the top lane. His early game power is almost unmatched by any other melee top laner. At first glance he seems like a rather basic champion, but he actually has a good amount of skill expression in his kit. You can hold your Q to dodge certain abilities like Darius E or Mordekaiser ultimate, you can use your ultimate to ignore crowd control spells, and using your E properly in a fight is very important. The guide is designed by one of the highest ranked Warwick top lane players in the world, hitting challenger 8 seasons in a row.

Warwick, The Uncaged Wrath of Zaun
Warwick is one of the strongest duelist champions in the top lane. His early game power is almost unmatched by any other melee top laner. At first glance he seems like a rather basic champion, but he actually has a good amount of skill expression in his kit. You can hold your Q to dodge certain abilities like Darius E or Mordekaiser ultimate, you can use your ultimate to ignore crowd control spells, and using your E properly in a fight is very important. Complete Matchup Coverage
You will learn how to play against both ranged and melee champions. Generally speaking, ranged champions are a direct counter to Warwick as he is forced to give up a lot of minions in the early game to survive and he has no easy way to engage with an enemy outside of his ultimate. Champions like Aurora or Kennen can give Warwick a very tough time in the early game, even forcing him to give up Blade of the Ruined King and build another item like Stridebreaker. As for the melee matchups, they are not actually as easy as you'd think. Understanding when to Q, using your E damage reduction and fear at the best moment in a fight, knowing if you should start the fight with your ultimate or to save it for later, all of these things are needed to win against champions such as Sett, Darius or K'sante.

Transitioning Into Mid and Late Game
Warwick has 2 different playstyles in the mid game: He can start fights for his team with his ultimate and E fear, or he can split push and constantly draw attention to the side lane. If you want to split push, taking the item Hullbreaker will ensure you get to take towers as quickly as possible. Another thing to keep in mind is that Warwick has absolutely no waveclear in his kit, and as such it is recommended to purchase an item like Tiamat to get waveclear. The Tiamat can be upgraded into Stridebreaker later on. The Stridebreaker active gives Warwick a good way to get into his Q range, which allows him to start the fight against an opponent. As for teamfighting, Sterak's Gage will give you a great deal of tankiness, ensuring you don't get instantly exploded the moment you jump in. You can also take Death's Dance to get another large spike in both tankiness and damage.
